For over five years I tried many ways to lose that last of my "baby weight" and through hormonal changes my body didn't respond to anything I tried (granted extreme diets and rigorous exercise are not my thing). Nicole convinced me to give the Healthy Living Program a try and with only needing/wanting to lose seven pounds a lot of people didn't see my frustration with the idea of not being where I wanted to be with my level of fitness, how I looked/felt in my clothes and more importantly the insecurities I had/have about my body. At the end of the spring program I had lost five of the seven pounds I needed to lose and had really started feeling better in my own skin. In the time that passed between sessions I kept up with the habits I created and when I started the second session, I was able to focus even stronger on my balance of life and healthy living and to this day I am still down nine pounds from one year ago thanks to the fundamentals learned through the Move programs. With the daily real life posts that are relatable, recipe sharing, exercise buddies to hold you accountable, restaurant ordering tips, short at home/hotel room videos to use when you cannot get to the studio are just some of the amazing things this program has provided for me. Before I signed up for the Healthy Living Program, I was frustrated that I was working out 5 hours a week and still struggling with hormonal weight gain! It was difficult for me to understand how my body could feel so strong, yet carry so much fat. My pants were tight, my dresses would ride up, I would change outfits several times before leaving the house, and worst of all I felt like my 2nd trimester belly was back. Nicole asked me once again, just like the previous year, if I had thought about joining the HLP. She said, “I think you’re ready”. The power of positivity is a good thing my friends. I went home and applied some logic.(Me talking to myself) Hmmm, I didn’t join last year because I knew exactly what clean eating was all about, and I was perfectly capable of doing it on my own. Well, I didn’t. You know how people suggest that if you haven’t worn something in a year, throw it out - I’m applying the same logic here ... if you haven’t done it on your own in a year, ask for help. I joined the program and was super comfortable with the detailed plan of action. We started up slow with only one challenge at a time and had plenty of guidance through the preparations needed for weeks to come. There were real life/real struggles coaching videos and chats along the way. The encouragement to acknowledge even the smallest accomplishments, and see struggles as challenges instead of failures, made the journey so much easier. The one on one coaching with Nicole was an important part in my success. She addressed all of my feelings, questions, choices, and needs as valid; and customized a plan for me around all of that. She also encouraged me to be kinder to myself not only by using positive inner thoughts, but also by making sure I’m important to me on my to do list. Now that sugar and refined carbs are out of my life and vegetables are my friend again, I feel amazing. I’m no longer sleepy at 2pm. I lost 1 inch of body fat in each of my problem areas! I don’t need to exhaust myself with hours of workouts to see results. On bad days, instead of focusing on food to fill my belly, I focus on friends and family to fill up my soul ❤️ I learned that preparation is key, and that Healthy Living goes much deeper than what’s on your dinner plate.
