Ditch the "All or Nothing" Mindset for Lasting Results

homeworkouts workoutmotivation Jan 27, 2021

Hello Move crew, we're bringing back Tuesday Talks (or reads on the blog :). I used to host Tuesday talks at the barre, and even though I DID do a barre class today, right now we're just gonna hang out in cyber land because I'm a little pooped from kick-butt classes!

During this morning's leg-shakin' workouts, one of which is 30 minutes and includes ALL the good stuff to get ya Sculpted then moving on with your day, I was reminded about how much we need to focus on NOT falling into the ALL OR NOTHING mindset.

If you knew me back in the day, and maybe you're one of these people too, I used to think that being able to feel like I've worked out or do something good for my body physically meant what I was used to in my younger years. As a teen and young adult I'd have practice for dance, cheerleading or some kind of activity that consisted of a LONG practice time. You team sport ladies feel me, right? So when I would go to the gym later in life, I would want to take a class, and then stretch for 30 - 45 minutes. So basically, like the whole bit took two+ hours. And if you know how real life goes, that's very hard to fit in for any busy woman these days.

At Move Fitness we do offer virtual weekly classes that are up to 55 minutes for those that have that dedicated time, alongside some shorter options for those needing that instead. The cool thing is that over this crazy quarantine time, it's really reminded me about how much you can get done in a smaller amount of time. That's why I started the 30 Day Challenge groups that I've been running over the past year. We actually have a new one that's beginning very soon. (Check out the info below and get on our interest list).

The purpose behind the 30-30-30 Challenge is being able to offer more people options to move their body and not make it a huge chore, thinking they need to have two hours to make it worthwhile and get everything they desired in.

The problem with the ALL or NOTHING mindset is that when you have to have it a certain way (ALL) with no flexibility or variation, you're often stopping yourself from doing it all together (NOTHING). Because if you don't have that larger amount of time, which most of us don't, then you'll likely just tell yourself it's not worth it. Oh man, I've been there! I'd tell myself if I'm not going to do it full force (the whole 2 hour bit), then never mind and I'd end up doing nothing. Man, that sounds like a toddler tantrum now that I look back at it, eeek!

So what's better? Finding something that's effective to do in a shorter amount of time, or just not doing anything because you'd rather give up since it's not done in the go-to way you think you have to do it. We all have those stubborn ways about us., but WE CAN change.

I encourage you to GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY!   I can prove to you that within 25 to 30 minutes, you can truly kick your own booty and tone up, find your way to a stronger, more healthy you. You CAN find confidence and get your body moving in a safe way even with lower impact movement that truly works. Workouts that not only define your muscles and overall body composition, but help you find your challenge level to increase flexibility, balance, and all that good stuff. It IS totally doable in a shorter amount of time!

I want to remind you to ditch that all or nothing mentality in this New Year, especially if getting in shape, moving more (just being active) and feeling good from the inside out are important to you. I promise you that you CAN do it in a shorter amount of time, which means you can more easily fit it into your day.

This leads to motivation, consistency, and the progress & wins that create lasting change.

So I challenge you today. If you don't believe me, contact me, send me a message, shoot me an email or comment below. I'd love to chat with you and talk to you about how you can become consistent and make YOU a priority. It’s time to make yourself a priority in your life to be able to fit movement in during your day. There is a way to find that time slot for you to be important and reach your goals in fitness, feel better, happy, healthy, confident and strong.
